Out of The Semis, despite a win

The dream of a third successive podium finish for India in the women's hockey competition at the CWG 2010was over on Saturday when they lost their place in to semis by a Goal Difference of 3. India missed out a semifinal berth by a goal difference of three, eight against the 11 by South Africa. Both finished with seven points each.

Though a superb performance by deepika thakur scoring 2 out of 3 goals made sure that India has a win against south Africa. Even as the margin of difference was getting blurred, Pietie Coetzee, playing her 200th international netted the 200th goal of her career to ensure a first semifinal appearance for South Africa in this competition.
